49, of Portsmouth, VA died May 15, 2014. Of Cape Verdean descent, born in Boston, MA and relocated to Providence, RI in his teen years. Buddy was employed as an independent computer analyst consultant for the last 25 years. He was the Co- founder of the Together We Stand Social Club. He was vice-president of the United Pool League of Tidewater and played for the Maroon 7 Pool League. Buddy was a very loving person and had a lively spirit. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
He was the son of the late, Pedro A. Martins, of Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde and is survived by his mother, Maria Boyd of Las Vegas, NV; his brother, Antonio Cipriano Martins, of Warmond, Netherlands; Two sisters, Ramona Martins of Providence, Rhode Island and Anna Pires of Atlanta, GA; Two nieces, Monique Montgomery of Concord, NC and Rachelle Martins of Warmond, Netherlands; A nephew, Keyanu Martins Zeferino of Providence, RI; Three great nieces, Hyedia, Genesis and Sierra; Aunts, uncles, a great many cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI from 6-9pm on Thursday, May 22, 2014. His funeral will be on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 9am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St, Providence. Burial will be graveside in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
