65, passed away on July 10th. He was a son of the late Ernest and Thelma (Freebairn) Hamel.
He had been employed by Colfax Industries for 30 years as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Union 251. He was a member of the Rhode Island Rhythm and Blues preservation society, a former member of the SOS Big Band. David was also the Chaplin of the Howard Roger Legion Post, 25 and played local Jazz sessions' as Dave "Bebop" Hamel. He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972 aboard the submarine "USS Bluefish".
David is survived by a son, Scott Hamel, two daughters, Dianne Falco and Amy Hamel, two sisters, Susan Perry and Audrey Dolan, brothers, Paul, James and Mark Hamel, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, Brother of the late Joyce Bourgault.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 16th at 10am with a service at 10:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 to 9pm
