88, passed away Saturday, August 16th. He was the beloved husband of Doris (Beauvais) for 69 years. Born in Central Falls, the son of the late Omer Lavault and Roseanna (Hebert) Leeming, brother to the late Andrew and Sylvio Coutu, and Norman, Gerard and Roger Lavault, he lived in Central Falls for all 88 years of his life.
Leo had a long career working in the shipping department at Central Fall's historic Gorman's / JJ Nissen Bakery Co where he worked for 40 years. Afterwards he worked for the Central Falls School Department until he fully retired. Music was his passion. As a teenager he began performing with local bands and orchestras. Later he became the band leader and piano player for the entertainment group the Melody Men, where he very much enjoyed providing classic music for weddings, anniversaries and parties alike. Leo was a dedicated member of the Pawtucket Elks Club for over 50 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Leo E. Lavault of Costa Mesa, California, Paul R. Lavault and wife Edite of Pawtucket, his daughter, Joanne Bouchard and husband Steven of Johnston, and his four grandchildren, Mathew P. and Nathan J. Lavault, Jenna A. and Adam S. Bouchard, all of which he continually showed his outward affections and humor. He always kept everyone on their toes with his unwavering witticisms.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln RI. Committal prayers will be in the Chapel of Notre Dame Cemetery on Wednesday at 10:30 am.
