92, passed on September 2nd at Evergreen House Nursing Home in East Providence.
She was the daughter of Dolores Rivera of Puerto Rico.
She was born in Las Piedras P.R. and was employed as a maid, nanny and town midwife. She was the widow of Andres Martinez.
In 1951, with her three children, she arrived in Brooklyn, NY where she worked as a seamstress in the manufacturing industry. She lived in Brooklyn until moving to RI with her grandson Jesse Ortiz in 1995. She is pre-deceased by her all three of her children, Iris Dempsey, Luis Martinez and Angelina Rivera. She is survived by her grandchildren, Helen Martinez and her husband Frederick Martinez, Angel-Luis Jimenez, Luis-Angel Jimenez, George Ortiz and his wife Carrie, Jesse Ortiz and his wife Stephanie, Betsy Martinez and her husband Lou, the late Angelo "Chu-Chu" Salgado, Brenda Davila and her husband Jesse, Melissa Vazquez, Michelle Rivera, Valerie Bermudez, Eleniese Martinez, Raulito Martinez and many great-grandchildren who she loved to be entertained by and share her bon-bon's and lollipops with. There will be a Memorial Service for Juana on Saturday, September 6th at:
