"Rusty" 86, passed away on November 4th with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Estelle (Chartier) Routhier, to whom he had been married for 65 years.

Born in, and a life-long resident of, Central Falls, RI, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lucienne (Proulx) Routhier. He was a graduate of Academie du Sacre Coeur, Class of 1947. Rusty retired from the Central Falls Police Department as a Captain after 25 years of service. He was Central Falls first motorcycle officer.

Rusty was a decades-long member of Les Gai Chanteurs and sang at many Rhode Island events. He loved golf, downhill skiing, and was a very good card player. But he mostly loved doing those things with his family and friends. Rusty was much loved and will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Claudette King and her husband Stephen, and two sons, Ronald Routhier and his wife Patricia Murphy, and Richard Routhier and his wife Debra. He is also survived by his siblings, Yvette Beaudette, Lilianne Dionne, George Routhier, and Georgette Chabot. He leaves five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albert Routhier.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 8am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI, followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Parish, Dexter St, Central Falls at 9:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7pm. Interment will follow.
