86, passed away peacefully on January 17th at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville, RI surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George E. O'Brien. Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Arthur J. and Marie Anne (Desrosiers) Martel.
She retired in 1991 from the Pawtucket Credit Union. Rachel was a former communicant, member of the Choir, and Golden Agers of St. Matthews Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Anne M. Bouley and her husband Mark of Denton, TX, three sons, John J. O'Brien and wife Mary of Lincoln, Mark J. O'Brien and wife Connie, David J. O'Brien and wife Deborah all of Cumberland, , three brothers, Leo, Gilbert and Raymond Martel, four sisters, Madeliene Pereira, Annette Thibodeau, Lillian Bradley and Louise Green, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews She was the sister of the late Arthur C. Martel, Doris Migneault and Maurice Martel and grandmother of the late Jacob M. Smith.
The family would like to thank all of Rachel's caregivers for the past 9 years,
Her funeral will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 8:45am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude Church, Front St, Lincoln at 10am. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
