(Patenaude) 92 of Cumberland, R. I. passed peacefully to her eternal rest on March 30, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island. Born in Central Falls, RI, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Orise (Major) Patenaude.

Gloria was also preceded in death by her husbands, Hubert S. Angus in 1955 and John H. Strycharz in 1993. She is survived by her four sons, Hubert S. and Linda Angus of Moorestown, NJ, Dale B. and Maribeth Angus of Coventry, RI, Jeffrey W. and Joan Angus of Cumberland, RI, David J. and Lori Strycharz of Milford, MI, and was preceded in death by her loving daughter Linda E. (Angus) Trucchi and survived by her son-in-law, Steven E. Trucchi of Mechanicsville, VA as well as 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by her sister, Theresa Kishfy of Cumberland, RI and was a sister of the late Leon Patenaude, Beatrice (Patenaude) Pendergrass, Howard Patenaude and Rita (Patenaude) Fagan.

A soft-spoken, attractive and kindred spirit with an infectious laugh and giggle, she was an avid N. E. Patriot fan and would watch the games wearing her #12 Patriot jersey. She knitted and crocheted and received an award from Morton Hospital for knitting newborn baby hats that the babies would wear home. Gloria enjoyed many things from watching Lawrence Welk to doing puzzles; from watching her favorite program, The Price is Right, to just plain quiet visits with family and friends.

However, what she enjoyed the most in life was just being a mom, the giving of her love to her family and the love the family gave back to her. She was a spectacular mom, grandmother and great-grandmother and was the center of our family’s universe. So much love was given and so many precious memories were returned which will last our family a lifetime.

A memorial service, as well as a celebration of Gloria’s life, will be held on April 6, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Road, Cumberland, RI 02864. All are welcome to join us. Immediately after the service, lunch and a continued fellowship will be served in the downstairs area of the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be greatly appreciated.
