98, passed on April 12th surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Francisco B. Gomes. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the daughter of the late Julio and Maria Gonsalves. Anna is the last of ten children.
She had been employed by American Insulated Wire for many years and then worked for New England Paper Tube, retiring at the age of 81.
She was a founding member of the Portuguese Calvary Baptist Church in Lincoln, later becoming the Mount Hope Community Baptist Church in Providence. She is survived by two sons, Francisco P. Gomes Jr. of Pawtucket, RI and John M. Gomes and his wife Michelle, of Lincoln, RI, two stepdaughters, Maria Costa of Stoughton, MA and Maria Lomba of Dorchester, MA, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 18th at 9:30am with a service at 10:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be in the North Burial Ground, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8pm.
