(Stott) 63, of Lincoln, Rhode Island passed away Monday May 11, 2015 at Phillip Hulitar Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Stott. She leaves her husband of 43 years, John Sandberg, daughter Cassidy Sandberg, two brothers, Thomas Stott of Johnston and Gary Stott of Lincoln as well as her mother, Wanda Stott (Krakowski). Before becoming a mother, Kathie was the first female fraud director in the country while working for AT&T (formally New England Telephone). Kathie was also one of the first employees at The Children's Workshop and served families with great passion and excellence for over 20 years. She held numerous positions within the company, and was currently the Field Operations Manager and was integral in the success of the day to day operation and staffing of their 19 current locations. Kathie also served as a liaison to several child care leadership groups including the Rhode Island Child Care Director's Association, a testimony to her dedication to child care. Kathie was hard working, extremely dedicated to the safety and well being of every child she met, and was very passionate about early childhood education. Kathie was very involved at St Jude's Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and served on the parish finance committee. Kathie was a fantastic mother and devoted wife and always put family first. Her smile could light up a room and she was known for her humor. She will be immensely missed and remembered. Her visiting hours will take place at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI 02865 on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude's Church, 301 Front St, Lincoln, RI 02865 at 10:00 a.m. Kathie has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Prevent Child Abuse Rhode Island.
