,70, passed away on Wednesday, October 7th. He was the husband of Ilda T. DaSilva of Central Falls, RI. Born in Cidade Velha, Santiago, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Filipe Lopes DaSilva & Maria Conceicao Borges (Moreira). Lawrence was raised in Mozambique, Africa, where he lived with his wife and their children before relocating back to Cape Verde. In 1980, Lawrence moved his young family to Rhode Island where he worked as a Machinery Mechanic at the former School House Candy in Pawtucket for over 20 years. Lawrence then opened DaSilva's Convenience Store, Restaurant Praia, CV Lounge & Larry's Lounge all in Pawtucket.
He is survived by his daughter Maria Armanda Barreto Miguel, her husband & their children as well as other children & grandchildren in Mozambique. Additionally, survived by his son Armando J. DaSilva and his wife Diana of England, Mario DaSilva and his girlfriend Robin Colpitts of Central Falls, Susette DaSilva-Mathis and her husband, Major Gerald A. Mathis stationed in Senegal, Ilda Mariza DaSilva-Rocha and her husband Antonio Rocha of Lincoln, Yolanda DaSilva-Melo and her husband Rui Melo of Central Falls and Katherine DaSilva of Pawtucket. Lawrence will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Erica DaSilva, Zachary DaSilva, Nikia DaSilva-Lopes, Antonio "TJ" Rocha, Chezney DaSilva-Gomes, Skye DaSilva-Mathis, Nyila DaSilva-Rocha, Justina Morais and Cydnee & Niki Mathis. Lawrence is also survived by four siblings, Anastasia Lopes-DaSilva, Fernando Lopes-DaSilva, Joao Belo Filipe and Maria Luisa DeJesusLopes-DaSilva, several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, many loved ones and friends near and far.
His funeral will be held Tuesday October 13th at 9:45 am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raymond Church, 1240 North Main Street, Providence at 11 am. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
