80, passed October 10th. She was the wife of Agostinho A. Furtado, they celebrated their 47th anniversary last Thursday. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Adelaide (Varandas) Marks. Irene had been employed by A.T. Cross for over ten years and also previously worked for Lebanon Knitting Mills. She was a former member of the Grupo Agora E Que Sao Elas.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, MaryEllen Mendes-Moniz and her husband Edward, a son, John Furtado, a brother, Dr. Antonio C. Marks and his wife Connie, three grandchildren, Edward, Michael and David Moniz, a great grandson Kaedyn Moniz and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Ave, Pawtucket at 10 am. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Prospect St., Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. Anthony Food Pantry, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket RI 02860
