72, passed on December 31, 2015. Born in Providence, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Bertram Wallace and Margaret (McCarter) Oliveira of Providence, Rhode Island.
He was a Military Police Officer, serving in the US Navy. He held a third degree black belt in karate in addition to owning a successful karate school in the South End of Providence, Rhode Island. Bertram's varied interest and endeavors led him to owning and running a modeling agency, during the 1980's the highlight of his career was when he hosted a public radio show called "Talk of the Town". Bertram was a published author three times over. Bertram never failed to help his fellow man, his flair for diversity and compassion earned him a job as a substance abuse counselor at the Talbot House, in addition to working at the Urban League Men's Shelter. Bertram was a lover of music and played the drums and piano.
Besides his mother, he is survived by five children Tonichia Tavares and her husband Daniel Tavares, Michael Wallace, Shan-Cheri Silva-Taylor and her husband David Taylor, Christopher Wallace and Pauline Wallace-Thimas, and the late David Wallace. Three sisters, Pamela Harry, Penelope Harry and Victoria Oliveira, including the late Jacqueline Wallace,Tracy Oliveria and brother Richard Wallace. Nine grandchildren and one Great-Grandson, many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Burial will be private. Family and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life at the Masonic Temple, 833 Eddy St., Providence, on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 4 - 8 pm.
