Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Philias T. and Beatrice H. (Picard) Fugere.
He served with the 54th Engineer Maintenance Company in Korea for 17 Months during the Korean War, receiving 7 bronze service stars, United Nations Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Mr. Fugere is survived by son, Jeffrey J. Fugere of Cranston, RI, a daughter, Doreen D. Fugere of Londonderry , NH, a brother, Rene Fugere, two sisters, Theresa Hills and Irene Charrette, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Ronnie A. Fugere and brother of the late Henry, Edward, Leo, Edward, Marion and Philias Fugere Jr., Lillian V. Mayer, Hortense LaBranche, Jeannette R. Perron, Doris Gagnon, Gerald Mayer and Florence Green.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 28th at 10 am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit Thursday morning starting at 8:30 am.
