83, peacefully passed away on May 19, 2016. He was born in Brava, Cabo Verde. Jose worked at the Town Hall in Brava and was also employed at Missao De Endemiasin Praia, Cabo Verde. In the US, he was employed at New England Paper Tube until his retirement. He enjoyed working in his garden and word searches with his grandchildren.
Jose is survived by his wife Elisa (DeBarros), his children Maria Fontes, Anna Miranda, Jorge Pina, Nilsa Soares, Magda Al-Alami, ElisaDePina, and Eduardo DePina, as well as his brothers and sisters Jose, Salvador, Joaquim, Sabino II, Dinora, Rute, Elizabeth, and Lili. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sons Jose H. Pina and Daniel David Pina and his brothers and sisters Sabino, Otelindo, Maria Das Dores, Matilda, and Zulmira.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 23rd in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 11:00 am. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
