63, passed on July 31st from complications of chemotherapy treatments at the Roger Williams Cancer Center. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Garrity) Choiniere for 42 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of Barbara (Leach) Choiniere and the late Russell Choiniere. Richard had been employed at Visual Creations and had also worked at R. Choiniere Trucking Co., Rhody Transportation and Concept Warehouse. A lifelong resident of Lincoln, he was a member of Lincoln High School class of 1971, he was known to local hockey players and coaches as "Ranger Rick" and was a coach for Lincoln Youth Hockey for many years,Woonsocket North Stars, NRI, Burrilville and the North Smithfield Girls Teams. Nothing gave him more pleasure than teaching a child to skate and then play hockey. He was an avid hockey fan of the New York Rangers and he loved the NY Yankees, playing cribbage, riding his motorcycle and he bowled in the Health-Tex League. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Cumberland. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Robert and his wife Caitlyn; 3 wonderful grandchildren, Robert, Olivia and Tucker, who brought great pleasure and love to his life; and a sister, Lorraine Choiniere.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 5th in St. Joseph's Church, 1303 Mendon Rd., Cumberland, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 4th from 4pm to 8 pm. in the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lincoln Animal Shelter, 25 Wellington Rd., Lincoln or the ASPCA, PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929.
