71, passed away on August 13, 2016. She was the wife of Jose V. Duarte (Djoshina). Born in the Island Brava, Cape Verde and raised in Dakar, Senegal, she was a daughter of the late Fortunato and Julia Tavares. She is survived by 2 sons, J. Lucien Tavares and Joey Duarte; 3 daughters Nathalie Cabagno, Sandra Almeida and Deborah Duarte; a son-in-law, Tony Almeida; a daughter-in-law, Sara Tavares; a stepson, Jose Duarte Jr.; 3 sisters, Maria Gustave, Caroline Tavares, Maria Tavares; 4 brothers, Jolio Tavares, Daniel Tavares, Michael Tavares, Antonio Tavares; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Norman Duarte (Papito) and sister of the late Joao Tavares.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18th at 10:00 - 11:30 A.M. at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 17th from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited.
