92, peacefully passed into eternity on Saturday, January 14, 2017. She was the wife of the late Antonio Perreira Gomes. Born on January 30, 1924, on Brava, Cape Verde Islands, she was the daughter of the late Maria de Pina and Manuel Gomes.
She emigrated to the United States in 1991, and settled in the City of Pawtucket, where as a housewife she made a home for herself and her family. In 2010 she fulfilled her dream and became a Citizen of the United States of America. She is survived by five sons, Francisco Gomes, and Alvaro Gomes of Pawtucket, Umberto Gomes, of Belgium, Joao Gomes and Viriato Gomes of Cape Verde, and Arlindo Gomes, who is deceased. Two sisters Benvinda Fortes Gamboa of Pawtucket, and Izulina Fortes DaLomba of Boston, thirty grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 8:45am from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, Rhode Island 02865 with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 291 High Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island 02860, at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours, on Friday from 5 - 8pm.
