55, passed away on January 26th after a courageous and dignified battle with glioblastoma - an aggressive brain cancer. She was the daughter of Andres and Maria Mercedes. She is survived by her son, Andrew Romero, and her four sisters; Angela, Maribel, Daisy and Carmen Mercedes, and five brothers; Miguel, Cesar, Manuel, Nelson and Ramon Mercedes. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Adrianna and Melodee Romero, and many nieces and nephews. Aracelis spent many years in Lynn, Massachusetts where she owned and operated Children's World Day Care Center. She educated hundreds of young children and provided love, care and support to them and their families. Aracelis was an avid learner who loved to read, write and teach. She earned a national Child Development Associate credential, a Family Development Credential from Tufts University, and an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from North Shore Community College. She taught English as a Second Language class to early educators at North Shore Community College and was a respected mentor to countless early childhood educators in the Lynn area. After moving to Providence RI, Aracelis worked as a family literacy coach and was a certified 'Mind in the Making' trainer. In addition to her love for children and families in need, Aracelis was a disciple who worked fervently to win souls for Christ. She was an articulate preacher and took pride in knowing that many of the people she ministered to have become pastors and are doing the work of God. She had a beautiful voice and sang hymns and spirituals like an angel. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 30th from 6pm to 9pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31st at 10am in the Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow and will be held at the North Burial Ground, Five Branch Ave, Providence, RI at noon. Relatives and friends are invited.
