89, left us on February 20, 2017, with her family by her side at Atlanta Medical Center. Sara was born October 10, 1927, in Delaware. Sara married William Eugene Potter and they resided in Providence, Rhode Island. The Potter's had two daughters Elaine and Lela. Sara survived William and raised her daughter's until her subsequent marriage Alvin Douglas Ross of Winchester Virginia, a third generation thoroughbred horse trainer. To this union, son Alvin Douglas Ross II (Bubby) was born. Sara loved her knitting, and reading. She devoted much of her early life to travels with husband 'Ross' and visiting various thoroughbred facilities across the United States. Sara had a charm and smile that enlightened the many family members that visited often, with news for her. She gave graciously of her time and even as a caregiver to family members. Sara could recount, with accuracy the various events of her family to any that asked. Her special joy was being surrounded by her family, friends, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The beloved Sara is survived by two sisters, Marlene Tunstill and Perthenia 'Thenie' Jones; brother, Robert Glen, and Charles Dortch, 2 daughters, Elaine Waite (William 'Quakey') Minister Lela Salter (Clinton); 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and the many loving nieces and nephews and their children. In the End, Sara was comforted by her favorite Scripture, 'I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and the earth'.
