87, of Cumberland passed away on April 3rd of a broken heart. He lost the love of his life, Irene, on New Years Day, after a spectacular 65 years of marriage. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he leaves 5 children: Elaine Robertson and her husband, Charles of Milford, CT; Richard Lamontagne and wife, Alicia of Port St. Lucie, FL; David Lamontagne and wife, Gladys of Lincoln; Michael Lamontagne and wife, Elaine of Johnston; and Steven Lamontagne and wife, Kathryn of Lake Forest, IL; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Moe left a lasting impression on people who surrounded him, sharing stories on life and love, and his "Moe-isms", leaving people with a smile on their face. Coming from a less fortunate life in Central Falls, RI, he made for an amazing life for Irene and his children through a strong work ethic and "family first" always approach, with love as a foundation for everything. Losing Irene left a hole in his heart and time for his aging body to catch up with him, making this loss a time of celebration of their reunion. Born to the late Henri and Josephine (Hemond) Lamontagne, he worked as an auto mechanic in the 1950's, a caterer, and maintenance at the Health Tex Clothing Company, before retiring from Almacs Supermarkets 25 years ago as a field maintenance technician. He is predeceased by brother, Lucien and is survived by brother, Roger.
Calling hours will be held Friday April 7th from 5 to 8pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI. His funeral service will be at 10:00 am on April 8th at the Keefe Funeral Home, with burial at the Notre Dame Cemetery, 359 Daggett Ave., Pawtucket, R.I. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Moe's name to Hope Hospice at Giving@HopeHospiceRI.org
