of Providence, RI, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Friday, April 16th, 2010.
He was the loving father of Jeri Kyu Lyeun Kim and Kyu Ok Kim-Santana. He leaves behind Chooky, Richard, Alx and Chant'L DeBeaulieu, the Arvanites family, a son-in-law, Javier Santana, a grandson, Josue Kaleb Sun-Kyu Santana and a granddaughter, Jade Ayame Santana. He also leaves behind many cousins and relatives of the Cha and Pyo family in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Kwan Sohp Kim in Korea. He was looking forward to the upcoming marriage of his older daughter Jeri to Rickardo Marc Lowe.
Born in Korea to the late Kee Ok Lee and Song Yeoul Kim, on January 22, 1936, Yang emigrated to the United States in 1971, starting in Los Angeles, California, settling in Rhode Island in 1974. He was the longtime owner of Yang's on Thayer Street, providing the East Side community with his handmade creations for over thirty years. Classically trained in piano, he shared his love of music with all. He was deeply respected and appreciated for not only his fine craftmanship, but his sage advice, neighborly assistance, and generousity. He will be greatly missed. A private memorial will be held for the family.
"The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice, and come out..." (John 5:28-29)
