79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 13, 2017. He was the husband of Mary (King) Lynch. The couple had celebrated their 53 year wedding anniversary in June.

Francis was born in Somerset, Massachusetts to father, Francis Xavier Lynch Sr., a molder and mother, Dorothy "Dotty" Lynch, a nurse. After graduating Somerset high school at 17, he enlisted in the Navy where he served honorably, receiving several accolades through out his service. After discharge he continued to serve in a different capacity as an ROTC instructor, helping young military prospects reach their full potential. In 1963, he married the love of his life and began working as a mental health worker for the state of Rhode Island where he later retired after 30 years of employment.

Francis was known affectionately as "Papa" to his grandchildren. He had a contagious laugh and was notorious for telling tall tales. He was an avid sports fan, supporting his beloved Red Socks, Celtics and Cleveland Browns each year. He loved collecting sports cards and spending Saturdays at the racetrack with his family.

Above all, Francis was a family man. He gave so much of himself and asked for nothing in return. He was a truly generous and kind man. He is survived by his wife Mary (King) Lynch, his four sons, Francis, George, Brian and Christopher, nine grandchildren, Shaina, Alissa, Frankie, Christy, Kyle, Mason, Alexa, Corey & Shawn and two great grand children.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 11am til 1pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI. Brief service to follow. Burial is private. A gathering will be held afterwards; relatives and friends are invited.
