journeyed to her eternal resting place surrounded by those she loved on August 30th at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. Born in Pawtucket in 1952 she was the loving daughter of Gera B. Hoffer and Jeannin(Laberge) Hoffer.
She is survived by her husband Mr. Norman Standring as well as three children, Keith Collette and his fiance Rebecca of Warwick, Kristopher Collette and his wife Kate of North Scituate and Kimberly Gravel and husband Michael of Cumberland. She is also survived by her twin sister, Joan Ferrara and husband Russell of East Greenwich, as well as a brother, Gary Hoffer and his wife Pamela of Pawtucket. She also leaves four grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Jean lived in Pawtucket most of her life and graduated with honors with a degree in Nursing in 1979. She was employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, ENT at the RIENT offices in Johnston, RI.
Jean's mission in life was always to help others and gave of herself constantly placing others welfare above her own. She celebrated each day of her life with enthusiasm and grace and fought her valiant battle against the malignant Melanoma which ultimately robbed us all of her precious gift of life. Jean enjoyed designing beautiful jewelry, was a gourmet cook. She could crochet a sweater in one day and finish reading a book at the same time. Her laughter was a sound of joy and would fill the room she was in. Her zest for life will never be forgotten or duplicated by any living being on this Earth. She has left a touching mark on each life she touched, will be loved and remembered forever in our hearts.
Jean's celebration of life and memorial service will be held in Lincoln, RI at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue from 4-7 P.M. on Friday evening, September 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Roger Williams Cancer Center of RI or the Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K St., North West Suite 800 Washington, D.C. 20005.
