93 of Lincoln, passed away Thursday January 4th, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Carolyn F. Smith.
Born in Providence - R I, son of the late Warren H. & Sarah {MacKnight} Smith; grew up in Fairlawn-Pawtucket and graduated from Pawtucket West High School in 1942 prior to moving to Lincoln. He was a World War II Marine Corp. veteran. Owner of R.W. Smith Construction for 30 years and retired in 1986. Richard was a 50 year member of Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church in Pawtucket.
He was the loving father of four children; daughter Sandra J. Mitchell of Lincoln, and sons Richard W. (wife Marilyn Fournier) of Orlando,- Raymond W. (deceased) and Stephen A. (wife Maureen McKinnon) of Lincoln.
His brothers; Warren H. Jr. of Lincoln - David A. {deceased}, and sister Barbara J. Holmes of Barrington.
Grandsons; Christopher W. (wife Stacy) of Virginia Beach, VA,- Justin W. (wife Joy) of Franklin,TN,- Ian R. (fiancée Tiffany) of Lincoln.
Great grandchildren; Riley, Jackson and Kaitlyn.
Several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service with military honors will be Saturday, January 13th at 3:00pm in the Keefe Funeral Home {aka bowling alley}. 5 Higginson Ave - Lincoln. Calling hours 1pm - 3pm. Relatives and friends are invited.
In Lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to either the R.I. Veterans Home 480 Metacom Ave - Bristol, RI 02809 or Hope Hospice & Palliative Care 1085 N. Main Street - Providence, RI 02904.
