57, of Lincoln, Rhode Island passed away unexpectedly on February 3rd, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife to Matthew DeMaire for the last 33 years. Born and raised in Dighton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Thomas McEvoy and Rita (Orlowski) McEvoy, who adopted Joan as an infant and gave her a wonderful upbringing. Joan is also survived by her three daughters in which she devoted her life to and raised so lovingly, Katelyn DeMaire of Lincoln, Karly Edwards and her husband Jordan of Kansas City, Missouri and Kelsy DeMaire, also of Lincoln. Joan loved nothing more than being a grandmother and was called Yammy by the three most beautiful grandchildren one could have. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Natalia (Tali), Ayva and Trey. Each of them were able to make their Yammy the proudest grandmother and the memories made during the time they shared will forever be cherished.

Joan was proud to have worked as a private Nanny and also a Parent Educator for several years helping young parents learn ways to care for their children. Being the mother that she was, it's without a doubt that those who were fortunate to have had her help share the same loving behaviors in their parenting.

Joan will be remembered as someone who welcomed anyone she met with open arms and who cared wholeheartedly for everyone. She was beautiful both inside and out, charismatic, loving, genuine, forgiving and loyal to those lucky enough to have her as not just family, but also a friend. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being out by the water, listening to music and also her 4 cats that she loved deeply.

Aside from her immediate family, she is also survived by the rest of the loving DeMaire family that includes her two amazing mothers in law, Laurene DeMaire and Carol DeMaire and father in law, Roger DeMaire along with her 8 brothers in law and 3 sisters in law and their respective spouses that welcomed her as one of their own sisters and whom she loved very much. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and an outsized amount of friends who she cared and loved as family.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during her calling hours which will be held, Saturday February 10th, 2018 from 3pm - 6pm with a memorial service provided by our Pastor Father Bernard Lavin from 6pm - 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI. Burial will be private.
