64, of 321 Douglas Ave, entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2010 at The Philip Hulitar Hospice Center of Rhode Island. He was the husband of Doreen (Williams) Bethea of 35 years.
Born in Norfolk, VA on November 15, 1945, he was the son of the late Clara Everette-Bethea and James Bethea. Edward had been previously employed by Gilbane Corp, for many years. He was the past Master of King Solomon Lodge #5, Past High Priest of Cyrus Chapter #4 HRM PHA, Past Patron of Queen of Sheeba Chapter #1 OES, and former Mt. Sinai Consistory #12 Constantine Temple #14.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Deidre Johnston of Hamden, CT, Thea Grant of West Haven, CT, and Alicia Bethea of Providence, RI. A son Edward Bethea Jr. of Providence, RI and 5 grandchildren,Tanisha Turnage, Robert Strickland, Nay'Shon Bethea, Ryan Strickland, and Jermaine Johnson. 1 great grandchild TaLea Turnage. 2 Brothers, Linwood White of Aberdeen, MD, and Clifton White of Norfolk, VA. 2 Sisters, Lois Turner of Wilmington, NC and Malinda Williams of Newport News, VA. He was also pre-deceased by 1 sister Mrs. Sadine Everette Cypress, of Hampton, VA and 1 grandson, Brian Turnage of Hamden,CT.
Relatives and Friends may call at KEEFE FUNERAL HOME, FIVE HIGGINSON AVENUE LINCOLN, RI. On Saturday from 12-3p.m. Burial will be private.** In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with funeral expenses**
