78, of 466 Hunt St, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Dorothy T. (Messier) Pina.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late John and Laura (Lizotte) Pina. He had been employed as a Truck Driver of over 30 years by Messier Trucking of Lincoln.
John was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War from 1951-1954 and was a member of the Gatchell VFW Post 306.
He is survived by four daughters, Deborah Lincoln of Taunton, MA. Donna Taylor of Pawtucket, Cheryl Souza of Attleboro and Joanne Santos of Cumberland, three sons, David Aldrich of Conroe, Texas, John L. Pina III of Cumberland and Michael Pina of Pawtucket, a brother, Ernest Pina of Cumberland, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Domingos "Sonny" Pina and grandfather of the late Mathew T. Pina. The family extends a special appreciation to Darrell Hosford for his kindness.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 11am until 2pm followed by a prayer service at 2pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St, Providence, RI 02904.
