was born December 26, 1928 in Brava, Cape Verde. She passed away April 2, 2011 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind 3 sons Daniel DaRosa, Marcelino and, Carlos Dalomba and her daughter Eva Dalomba. Djai lived her life in Cape Verde selling fish to support her children that were born and raised in the Island. When her kids became older they helped her sell fish teaching them to be very hard working. In a poor country as a single mother she was able to make it. She migrated to the United States in 1987 where she has lived in Pawtucket, Rhode Island most of time. She worked at Angelica's Factory for many years until her retirement. She has 10 grandsons, Roger DaRosa, Jose, and Manuel Loureiro, Danny DaRosa, Nelson, Adelino, and Manny Dalomba and one granddaughter Melissa DaRosa. She has 14 great grandchildren. She loved her family, you could see it in her eyes when you walked in her door that remained open at all times. She was very strong, smart and loving. She made an imprint on the entire family because we are a REFLECTION OF HER! She will always be missed!
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Ave, Pawtucket at 10am. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9pm.
