41, passed August 1st with his loving family by his side.
Raised in Central Falls, a son of George G. and Gloria J. (Desaulniers) Gregory, Michael attended Holy Trinity School, and then St. Raphael's Academy in Pawtucket.
Mike was an Army Veteran serving 5 years in active duty and another 3 years in the Army Reserves. He served in the Persian Gulf War.
He lived many years in North Carolina before returning to RI.
He has been a strong, thoughtful and generous man. He was a source of support and advice to many. He made friends easily wherever he traveled, spending time in France, Germany, Kuwait, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
Mike was proud of his service as a volunteer firefighter and a little league coach. He was committed to his painting and loved poetry. He was a deeply spiritual man who had a great respect and interest in Native American culture.
Micheal has been a devoted brother, son and father. We will always love him and will cherish our time together all the days of our lives.
A special thanks to Nina Flood of RI Home & Hospice Care of RI. She has been so much more than a volunteer. Her compassion, empathy and untiring support eased Mike's passing and our grief. We consider her a member of our extended family.
Besides his parents, he is survived by two sons, Mickey and Nick Gregory, a daughter, Layla Gregory, two sisters, Sandra Monastesse and her husband Jerry, Lynn Dolman, two brothers, Steven Gregory and James Gregory and his wife Debbie, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Susan Gregory.
His funeral will be held Friday at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church, Walcott St, Pawtucket at 10am. Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited, calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to an education fund for Mike's children, care of James Gregory, 111 Sturbridge Dr., Warwick RI 02886.
