83, passed April 29th. She was the wife of the late Henry L. King.
Born in Sparta, Georgia, a daughter of the late John Wesley Tyson and Essie B. Latimer.
She had been employed the Bulova Watch Company for many years and then worked for the Mt. Hope Daycare Center, Providence. Julia was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for over 50 years and enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.
She is survived by a son, Wendell L. King and his wife Dorrie of East Providence, a daughter, Karen King-Nary and her fiancée Robert J. Hamlin Sr. of Providence, 3 grandchildren, Randie, Trey and Brianna King, a great grandson, Jarred Hamlin and several nieces and nephews, Diane Prout, Debra Brewer, Paulette, Ronald, Gregory, Ralph Batey, Victor Latimer and the late Larry Batey and a host of other dear relatives in Georgia and Texas and friends.
She was the sister of the late Beulah Batey, Ben and Willie B Tyson.
A service will be held Friday at 10am in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 475 Cranston St, Providence. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited.
