Those who loved him called him Pookie. Sadly, Pookie left us on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Carolyn Clinton, and his brother Willie L. Sweeney, III (Teeba). He is survived by his father, Vernett (Pokey) Brown. 5 children, Nia, Jayvian, Nycole, Ramiyah, and Saniyah, and two step-children, Daizanay and Dulce. Also mourning his loss are 3 sisters, Teryl (Tat), Tanika (Nee-Nee), and Netta; 5 brothers, Vernett (Kobie),Pokey, Moriba, Ted, and Dennis (Plum); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Pookie was the type of man that had a love for life and a devout love for his family. There wasn't a minute that went by that he wasn't laughing or joking about something, or anything for that matter. He was a man on a mission; blessed beyond measure with many artistic abilities. Pookie put his talents to use through his music.

Pookie made an everlasting impression on everyone that entered his life. Whether you had a two second conversation with him or knew him for a lifetime, the memory was one that was embedded in your heart forever. He could walk into a room and the whole mood would change, simply because of his presence. He was larger than life.

Pookie had a smile that will live in the hearts of everyone he knew until the end of forever. He had a smile that was contagious; a laughter that was infectious. From a young boy to a young man his dimples went as deep as his heart.

"Move aside, it's my time to shine!" He would say, today we celebrate his life. We don't mourn for his passing; we are coming together in honor of Pookie," it's a memory that will be everlasting.

A Home going service will be held Friday at Noon in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 10am till Noon.
