"Pepere" 78, passed September 26th. He was the husband of the late Beatrice M. (Stay) Ponton.
He was the son of the late Gilbert R. and Bernadette C. (Larocque) Ponton.
He had been employed by Metalor Refining of North Attleboro and Alumaline Anodizing for many years.
He was a Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War. Gilbert was a BSA Scout Leader for Troup 63 and 1271, both Central Falls. He was a former manager, officer and coach of the Central Falls Little League, Central Falls Auxiliary Police Officer and member of the Civil Preparedness for many years. He was a former member of Sat. Nite Mixed Bowling League.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lubbeck and her husband Harold of Arizona, Lisa Rawson and her husband Edward, a son, Gilbert R. Ponton Jr and his wife Linda all of Central Falls, a daughter in law, Debra Ponton of Lincoln, a sister, Eileen LaRue of Cumberland, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Norman R. Ponton Sr., brother of the late Ruth Theroux and step son of the late Mary Ponton.
His funeral will be held Monday at 10am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
