Christell (Brown) Stanley was born in Dothan Alabama on July 8, 1932 to Roosevelt and Jetto (Curry) Brown. She was married to the late Hayward Stanley and resided in Providence, RI for 36 years. She mothered in love her eight children: one son; Carl Stanley, Utica, NY; seven daughters; Bobbie Brown, St. Petersburg, FL; Mary (Hendricks) Stanley, North Providence, RI; Bernice Shelton, Pawtucket, RI; Martha Stanley & Rena Stanley, Providence, RI; Angie Simpson, New Castle, DE; and the late Frankie Rucker of Cincinnati, OH. Highly favoured and loved were her daughter-in-law Yana Stanley and three son-in-laws, Calvin J. Simpson, Jr., Wainwright Shelton, and Robert Sumner. The loss of Christell is felt by the esteemed Dale (Hunt) Stanley and Bert Moynihan. She leaves loving memories to her 33 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Christell was the third of ten siblings, Rose Mae Martin, Dothan, AL; Yvette Lee, Rochester, NY; Yvonne Russ, Cleveland, OH; Willie Brown, Little Rock, AR; David Brown, Pinellas Park, FL; Charles Brown, Miami, FL; Leonard Brown, Rochester, NY; the late Elmer Brown, Philadelphia, PA; the late Randy Brown, Dothan, AL; and the late Mildred Harrison, Utica, NY. She was a member of the Pond St, Baptist Church, Providence, RI.
Christell's final days were filled with family and friends; she touched each of them in a loving way throughout her life. Hallelujah and giving of thanks to God were words of praise she uttered as she transitioned from life here on earth to rest in eternal glory.
A Homegoing Service will be held Friday at 11am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Friday morning starting at 9am.
