95, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 10th. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Olegario and Maria (Santos) Monteiro. She had been employed by Esposito Jewelry Company of Cranston for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and was the neighborhood babysitter.
She is survived by four daughters, Margarida Fortes of New Jersey, Paulina Alves and Maria Tavares of Providence and Francisca Monteiro-Balla of West Palm Beach, Florida.
A brother, Jose Monteiro of Florida, nine grandchildren, Alfredo, Anthony, Manuel Jr, Jennifer, Camille, Bryan, Jonathan, Amanda and Michaela, six great grandchildren, Justin, Joseph, Eliana, Alice, Jacoby, and Jacob and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Virginia Monteiro, Laura Monteiro-Fontes and Alfredo Monteiro.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Camp St, Providence at 10am.
