84, passed peacefully on March 8th 2013 with her son and niece by her side. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Athelene (Noggins) Corria. She was a dedicated Youth Advocate for children at risk. Ruth attended the University of Connecticut, School of Social Work. March – May 1976 and Rhode Island College, Social Work, B.A. 1979. She had been employed by the State of RI, Child Welfare Office, Providence, was the Recreation Leader and House Parent: 1967-1979
Case Aide, Department of Children, Youth & Families, Providence, RI: 1979-1988. Some of her accomplishments include the Outstanding Community Service – Members of the Junior Traveling Co-eds. Recognition of Dedication, Time & Energy, Gala Cape Verdean American Reunion:1975. Appreciation of Faithful Service to the People of Rhode Island: 1983

She is survived by a son Anthoné Soares of Virginia, two sisters, Marguerite Craveiro and Edith Santos, both of Providence, two grandchildren, Anthoné Soares Jr. and Tayla Soares, both of Virginia, her care giving niece Michelle Freeman, other first generation nieces and nephews, Daniel Corria of Providence, RI and wife Susan Corria of Providence, RI, Catherine Freeman of Providence, RI and husband Michael Freeman of Providence, RI, The "late" Phyllis Johnson of Providence, RI, Ricardo Santos of Atlanta, Georgia Vincent Santos of Cleveland, Ohio, Yvonne Smith of Mittchellville, MD, and Joseph Craveiro of Providence, RI.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 5 to 9pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 12th at 10am in The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St, Providence, RI 02906. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Holy Name of Jesus Church
