"Sonny" 77, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Smith) Battersby. They were married for 56 years. He was the son of Arthur and Jeannette (Bechard) Battersby.

Arthur had been employed as a tool maker and machinist for many years. Arthur was a Korean War Veteran, and served in the Army reserve for 24 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by eight children, Julia Labossiere and her husband Dennis, Elizabeth Ellis and her husband, Keith, Michelle Cipriano and her husband John, Joyce Lavallee and her husband Richard, Arlene Rios and her husband Luis, Thomas Battersby, Arthur Battersby and his wife Lisa, Christine Battersby, two brothers, Alan and Arnold Battersby, 20 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 9am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial with Military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Sr. Bea's Ministry, 1030 Dexter St, Central Falls, RI 02863
