76, passed April 20th with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Elmore R. Matteson. They would have been married 50 years in August.
She was the daughter of the late George E. and Mary E. (LaVertue) Trombley.
Shirley was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Woodlawn Cowboys Youth Football Team and was an also a former Lady Bug at the Bug Club.
She enjoyed playing bingo, was an avid card player, and was famous for clam broils and homemade chocolate candies. She was a former Womens Auxiliary Chaplin at Howard Rogers Post 25 of Pawtucket. Shirley enjoyed every episode of the 46 years of "Days of our Lives".
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, James Matteson and his girlfriend, Carole Remington of Smithfield, a daughter, Mary Matteson of Pawtucket , two sisters, Edna Mae Perron and her husband Robert of Pawtucket and Nancy Mathieu of Tampa, Florida, a grandson, Marc Matteson and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Trombley.
A Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8pm.
