87, passed peacefully with loved ones by her side on November 9th. Born in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Rene and Dora (Mercier) Courtemanche. She was married for 30 years to the late Walter Turenne and then married for another 21 years to the late Frederick Paine. She was the sister of the late Theresa White, the late Ernest Courtemanche and grandmother to the late Nicholas Messier. She is survived by one sister, Jeanne Moreau of Cumberland, two sons, Richard Turenne of West Warwick, and Ronald Turenne of Cranston, four daughters, Dolores Turenne of North Providence, Dianne Turenne-Ehly of Worcester, Vermont, Elaine Berard of Johnston, and Claire Messier of Warwick, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Frederick Paine Jr., Mary Batista, John Paine, and Joan Frey, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
In her early years, she worked in the textile industry. She was a homemaker for most of her life and loved to be surrounded by family. She was a member of the Notre Dame Women's Club, The Royal Travelers, and was a volunteer at the Knights of Columbus in Attleboro. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and making crafts.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 am from the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Aidan's Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland, RI. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St, Providence, RI 02904.
