"Chicho" 61, passed away on Thursday, December 19th. He was married to Juana Polanco for 32 blessed years.
Gabriel was born to the late Augusto Polanco and Elpidia Correa in San Fransisco De Macoris, Dominican Republic, on July 17, 1952; Gabriel Polanco
Loving, enlightened, affectionate? None of these words can describe the type of man Gabriel Polanco was, yet all of these words characterize him perfectly. Gabriel Polanco was the type of man that can look you straight in the eyes and tell you an interesting story without even opening his mouth. He can say, I am proud of you with just a smile. He can yell I love you at the top of his lungs with just a wink of his eye. He can cook the most delicious meal you have ever tasted with nothing but cilantro, oregano, oranges and pinch of salt. To his loved ones he was superman. To his friends he was loyal. To his wife he was "Mi Amor". Gabriel Polanco had battled cancer for a long, exhausting and painful three years. All the while he would have a smile on his face that can brighten up even the darkest rooms. His positivity had spread at a faster rate than his cancer ever could, and that is something that all his doctors, nurses, CNA's and most importantly his family marveled at. Gabriel never once gave up. He himself said he was not fighting for himself but rather he was fighting for his family. His last message to us all was "I love you, do not mourn for me instead celebrate my life for I am honored to go in peace surrounded by those that love me and those who I love even more" Although he did not speak those words he did not have to, his eyes told us all. He was survived by Wellington Gabriel Polanco; Gabriela Polanco; Tiffany Polanco; Raul Gabriel Polanco; Alexandra Eduvigis Polanco. He is also survived by survived by three sisters and 6 brothers. Calling hours will be held Saturday evening from 6 to 9pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be private.
