52, passed on January 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was the wife of Keith Pena.
Jazz was the daughter of Otilia "Titi" Correia Amado and the late Jose Barbosa Amado. She was the mother of Britney and Jordan Pena, sister of Carlos, Olavo B, Jesse, Joseph, and Olavo V. Amado and Clara Roderick and Millie Thimas and the late Joao Teixeira and aunt of many nieces and nephews
She was a wonderful, loving wife,mother,daughter,sister,aunt and friend. She was born in Brava, Cape Verde Island and migrated to the United States at the age of 4. She grew up in Pawtucket, RI and graduated from Shea High School in 1980. In her younger years,she enjoyed ballet, gymnastics, swimming and playing the organ. She was a member of her high school swim team as one of their best divers. She competed in music talent shows and won first place. Music was her passion.Everywhere she went she was always singing. Jazz,her husband and two children enjoyed their loving home in Johnston,RI.
She was employed by the United States Postal Services for 28 years,and was loved by all of her colleagues. Her beautiful smile and outgoing personality was infectious. She was selfless,generous and caring of others. She will be forever in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10am in the Mount Hope Community Baptist Church, Hope Street, Providence. Burial will follow. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday from 5 to 8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of RI, 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.
