A wonderful man, a welcoming smile, an infectious laugh, always a gracious greeting and hearty handshake when seen anywhere, never an unkind spoken word, greatly admired for his hard work ethic, strong family man, a friend to all, a heart of gold especially to those in need, and a man whose passing will bring a tear or two to even the manliest men of men.

He was truly a man who loved and was loved. He was your friend when the sun shined high above your life or when your life was in a perfect storm. He treated you no different.

For those of us who believe, our friend George, has been welcomed into God's loving embrace with the word that was always his. "Welcome home my child, you have led a FANTASTIC life."

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.

We lived on South Street since 1979 and frequented the "House of Pizza" for many years. We raised 3 children and 7 grandchildren there. In all those years and three generations later we have all at one time or another as customers enjoyed the company of the Stratis family. "Fantastic George" left a lasting impression on you every time you came in contact with him. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and everyone was the "Boss"! The pizza was and is amazing and the roast beef grinder in a league of it's own. George's personality and energy always made you smile and feel good no matter what kind of day you were having. If you went in with a frown you definitely came out with a smile! He will not only be missed by his family and friends, but also by the many, many customers that ever had the good fortune to cross his path. Farewell for now, "Fantastic George" till we meet again. RIP

Grew up with House of Pizza from '75 on. Ate probably 2,000 pizzas since then. I remember Georgios well. Taught me a few Greek words along with the pizza! Glad to have known him.

Words cannot express the profound loss my children and I have encountered at your loss. To say you truly a wonderful man would be an understatement. The outpouring of love is shown by ALL the LIVES you have touched over the years. I had the pleasure to know you for over 18 years and be your daughter-in-law for many as well. Sadly, my part in your story was not meant to last but for a brief time but you were the kindest, most generous man. You treated me just like a daughter and did so much for me and your grandchildren over the years. The void they will feel as they get older will be profound. Most of all, I am eternally grateful, for the 1st meeting back on Easter 1995 when you welcomed me with open arms into your home for the 1st time, but more importantly, you welcome a woman and her 6 month old son. From that moment on my son and I became a part of your life and you took on the role of "grandfather" spoiling him and loving him beyond compare. Thank you for everything. For all the good times that I will forever carry in my heart. They say people come into your life for a purpose and I know you truly did. Love you always, Rest in Peace. Heaven has truly gained an Angel. Pleae keep watch over your grandchildren.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to the Stratis family. George was such a special guy. So genuine and kind. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. I first met George at the Smithfield Ave House of pizza over 42 years ago. I can not even tell you how many pizzas and sandwhichs he made for me and my family over those many years. My brother Ray ate there at least 3 times a week. He was proud of his Greek heritage but also had a deep love for the USA and would say " only in america" when something was good. Rip Mr Fantastic. You will be greatly missed by the City of Pawtucket and things will not be the same without you. I am so glad to have known you.

“Work is only one slice of the whole Pizza!” Mr. George Stratis made time for 8 slices...Faith, Family, Friends, Fun, Food, Fortune, Fenway Park!, and being “Mr. Fantastic”!!!

Although I hadn’t seen him in recent years, my cousin George was one of many in my Big, Fat, Greek Family located mostly in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Greece. It makes me so proud to know that he left behind a great legacy. He was a good man. He worked hard and loved his entire extended family. When I was just a young teen, I was fortunate to visit my Dad’s homeland of (Lia) Greece in 1971. I thought I was living a dream when I witnessed the wedding of George and Efthalia on the island of Corfu. I remember it as if it were yesterday because George always had a smile on his face like his Mom, Thia Athena.

Pizza brings people together in a circle. Some may say the circle figure expresses wholeness, completion, perfection....but it is also never-ending. I believe God recognized the circle as the ideal symbol of “things eternal”. May George’s memory always be eternal. Our deepest sympathies sent from across the miles as we are saddened to hear of George’s passing. His love will remain in our hearts.

George was a wonderful man who brought a smile to our faces every time we went into PHP, which was very, very often. On behalf of all of my friends, thank you George for taking care of us when we had the munchies - and for buying us a beer as you waited for your takeout at the Dragon Villa on Friday nights. More importantly, thank you for being such a positive influence on all of us. I hope to someday meet you again and know that you will greet me that phrase I will never forget: FANTASTIC!!!
