I'm not sure why it happened but almost every leave from the Army and then my trips to Lincoln to visit with family after I retired all these years I would see Phil, and I would always be greeted with a hardy, " Duff! How we doing?" And we'd catch up if only for a minute. He was what I loved about Lincoln. Phil will be missed. God bless.

Phil I have so many memories growing up with you in Saylesville, especially the wiffle ball games in your back yard, or the many days of playing Monopoly, and you never being able to figure out why you always lost!! And all the time spent collecting and trading baseball cards. You and my brother Rob formed a solid friendship that lasted until you left us. I know you were a very special person to him. Squibber I will miss you very much. My thoughts and prayers to Kathy and her family, and to Phils siblings... Artie Fletcher

My deepest sympathies to the Smith family. I have known Phil since we were in the 3rd grade, and throughout our high school years. He was always so funny, kind and was like a big teddy bear...always a joy to be around. Rest in peace.
