My prayers go out to Butch and the family. Elayne was strong in the Lord and actively living a life worthy of honor.
When she was a young girl and my dad, Rev Coverdale was her pastor our families were one. I remember her leading the choir at the age of 16 singing; "If had not been for the Lord on my side tell me where would I be."
During my fight with cancer she brought joy to my life. Her love for God is genuine.
My children have spent this year at the MET school where they not only had "auntie Elayne" loving on them but as a guide and mentor actively participating in the pursuit of their life's passions.
I thank God for special connections we have shared and pray for the peace of the family. Elayne is truly missed

To the entire Walker-Cabral Family,
I am so sad to hear of your loss of a great woman. The life of Elayne touched many including family, friends, and in particular youth and community. I knew Elayne for many years at first during high school and then again in Community Planning Graduate school at URI and more recently working together at the MET community school. She leaves a legacy of creating healthy communities through education and social justice.
Thank you Elayne for your on-going friendship, inspiration, and love for humanity. You will forever be loved and missed.

Butch, You already know what an amazing woman, Elayne was. She still is for she has only transitioned. Her spirit lives on. I work at Save The Bay and saw Elaine often when she came here for meetings. I was shocked and saddened to see her lovely face in today's obituaries.
She was such a nice, kind and warm person. I will miss seeing her.

Elayne was a teacher's dream--exceptionally bright, good-natured, diligent, and purposeful. I want to send my love and prayers to Lenny, and the Walker-Cabral family. I am sad that my friend of 45 years is gone too soon. She leaves me with many fond childhood memories from camp, high school, partying and living life as best we knew how. We often would laugh at how we were finger-sucking buddies. She brought joy in the room when she entered. God is merciful, I was blessed to chat with her a few weeks ago before her transition. I will miss her as I release her but I am comforted by a trust that she is with her loved ones and God has great work for her in paradise.

Elayne, I am still in shock over your passing. I will remember the many parties in, as you would say "Your beautiful home", bowling, working together, New Years Eve and the night life.
