My Husband Gus would always come home from Spats and tell me about the fun times he & George & the Spats crew would have. They always spoke so highly of Maryann Perez! All those years & I had never gotten to meet her but felt like I knew her from the stories they would share. Maryann was always a central part in the stories!
Then FATE stepped in & our oldest son fell in love with & married Maryann's Granddaughter!
When I finally did meet Maryann, we were both so happy. Maryann told me how much she enjoyed her time at Spats too. I could tell she held a soft spot for Gus which made me happy.
I knew the feeling was mutual. We talked about fate & only in RI would Her Granddaughter & Gus's son meet & fall in love! How true!
Maryann reminded me so much of My own Mom. They both were full of fun, life, love and a never ending spirit!! I loved that about her!
Thankfully, our joined families were able to spend time together during the last few years..during the engagement, new home and beautiful wedding for our kids! Thankfully, I was able to get to know Maryann thru these special times in our lives.
I know it meant so much to Angelina to have her Grandmother with her during the special times in her young life. There is a special bond between a Grandmother and Granddaughter.
I am thankful that Angelina will have so many cherished memories of her "Ma". That gives me comfort because I love Angelina too. In the hard times, it is the memories that we hold dear, that bring our loved one near.
Whether it was fate, coincidence or "only in RI, I finally got to know the famous Maryann Perez personally. The time I got to spend with Maryann may have been short, but I believe it was all part of a greater plan! And, for that I will always be grateful!
Please accept my sympathy for the loss of Maryann. She was a joy to know! I will miss
her.

I had the pleasure of having MaryAnn and her family live In my house on Radcliffe Ave. for many years. I was not only her landlord but we were all one big family. I love when she asked me to come downstairs for dinner with then my young son Ryan it was like eating at a 5 star restaurant. She really was the Hostess with the Mostes. She would set the table so beautiful and of course the wine was great. We would tell stories and laugh and laugh about life in general. I watched her back and she always had my back. There never was a dull moment in the house with all her kids in and out.
She lived life to the fullest and was always there for her kids in so many ways. She worked hard and also knew how to party. I will miss her laugh and her sparkling blue eyes. She was a really classy lady.
My deepest sympathy for all her children friends and relatives. She will be missed but lives on in all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace friend until we meet again.

My dear Aunt Maryann, you will be remembered by many as a woman who lived and loved life to it's fullest. Your wonderful cooking fed many at both family gatherings and friendly get togethers. Your infectious laughter and sense of humor brightened the lives of all around you.
Life threw many obstacles your way, but somehow you were always able to overcome them and flourish.
Thank you for all you brought to our lives as you were a true inspiration for all who knew you. Through all of life's ups and down's you always had charity in your heart and that's all one can expect and you delivered.
I will always remember all the good times we had together and I will salute you forever and whenever the warm memories you have left me with remind me of your absence.
I love you and will miss you, but you will never be forgotten.
With a heavy heart,
Joey
