Damon, there are no words...not enough...I first try to find solace knowing that God allowed me to be in your presence on the evening when you passed. You were your usual spirited self, full of smiles, philosophy and a great time! I now trust that it was no coincidence. I could never forget our many philosophical conversations about life and purpose...I will take so many of your lessons through life with me. You were a beautiful soul, a true friend and a wild spirit with a zealous heart. You were “gold.” A man whose family can be proud of who he was on this earth and what he stood for. You walked with purpose. You were real in every sense of the word. I will miss you very much and pray for your eternal peace in God's skies. When I defend my dissertation this Spring and become the Dr. you told me that "you knew I would become," you will be part of my dedication. As you were real in my life as a true friend, so too will be my word. May God Bless your children, your family and all of those who you held near and dear to your heart...a Soldier's Home Going...gone too soon...but never forgotten...

Mrs. Heather Dos Santos

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Robert Frost, 1874 - 1963

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
