Dave still owes me a beer. More importantly, I firmly believe that I am alive right now because of him, as I heeded his warning at the start of my own battle. Though we did not see each other anywhere near often enough, I see him as an inspiration. His positivity was not only infectious, but also something I will always strive to emulate. I will miss him, and my heart breaks for all of you.

Dave wasn't family by blood, but family by choice. I grew up calling him Uncle Dave, and that is how my kids knew him. We may not have been able to get together often, but it always felt like yesterday. The world is less bright and a lot less funny without you in it.

Where do I begin. My childhood was better because he was a part of it. My memory that most sticks out is at one of your birthday parties your bird's toe started bleeding and he had to run to go get quick stop. He saved the day lol. He will be so missed. Many memories from trick-or-treating, to camping with you guys and numerous sleepovers. He was one of the best.

My sincerest condolences to all of the family. I worked with Dave for about 7 years on the Endo system, so I got to spend a lot of time with him troubleshooting equipment and upgrades. Those software upgrades would sometimes span until the early hours of the morning. Dave, always fun a fun and positive guy, walked by one of the windows on the Rhode Island Hospital 9th floor and calls me over, Joe, come here, now that we’re done with the upgrade let’s hold hands and watch the sun come up. Dave always ready to make one smile. That’s the dedicated, caring, and charismatic person I will miss and always remember. Rest in peace my friend.
Your friend always
Joe

I had made treats for his department one day and when he returned the plate it was empty. I joked you should always return a plate full, so Dave went home and learned to make brownies and caramel from scratch- never having baked before. The brownies were delicious! He always has a smile and a welcome to the cafeteria table where his team dined together every day. I was honored to be able to join them on occasion.

Dave, to your friends you where known as many nicknames including Tard. (LOVE IT)., But to be e you where always llya Kuryakin of The Man from Uncle TV Series in the 60's. With your Turtleneck sweater you wore as you sat next to me for 6 years at Saint Leo's.
They described how you "Gave Back" at the Fairlawn little league, etc. And I'm happy you did, but what option did we we have after those Sisters Of Mercy put up with us for 6 years?
I hope you didn't have to serve too much time in Purgatory on our Principal Sister Aileens bench.
All I ask is you give my regards to our 3rd grade teacher, Sister Calista who saved my life 3 times during my Coast Guard career.
She had us pray to Saint Anthony when she would lose her keys and played that 78 rpm lp for us. Home, Home , on the Range.....
I'm still in touch with High Shaw who she sat in the front row. Under the spit balls he shot out of his pen onto the ceiling.
We shared her classroom with incredible people like Danny Martin, Tufts Brain Surgeon. Steve Dion, firefighter. Elizabeth Hurd.
Just tell Sister Calista that I kept my promise, when she saved my Coast Guard plane from ditching off Hawaii. I promised her I would do something and now dedicated my life to rescuing Filipino Street kids. Ask her to oversee it.
Goodbye for now David.

One of my recent memories of Dave was this summer. I was fortunate to watch the tender way he cared for Sharon who was recovering from surgery. Dave would do anything for those he loved.
This included him being brave enough to let me ride shotgun on adventures. He never complained about my lack of direction sense. Not even when we ended up in backwoods resembling a horror movie.
Dave was not just a brother-in-law. He was my brother, my friend, and my fellow outlaw.
I love you and miss you.

Throughout our lives we meet people that leave an indelible mark on us. Dave is one of those people. He was always good for a laugh and always showed his commitment to others through his work. I was fortunate to know and work with Dave for over 15 years at Lifespan. I worked with Dave for many years. He was a devoted family man, funniest guy you could ever meet and the hardest worker.... always the first to arrive and last to leave. Well maybe his buddy Suzie left last sometimes!! God must of needed him in heaven, I can't make sense of it any other way. We were all so lucky to have known Dave and the void he leaves can never be filled. He helped put on a powerpoint presentation at my retirement party that was hilarious. We remember Dave from Fairlawn Little League back in the late 90's.
My older son Sean was playing, I was helping coach. Both Dane and Devinne were on the team also. My younger son Tim would come to the games and make a bee-line to the concession stand to get a burger and talk to Dave.
At the time he was driving a white Ford Fairmont I think, and he had a toy plastic shark on his gear shift lever. Tim asked why he had the shark there and Dave regaled him with stories of the "Shark-Shifter 2000" and how much extra power it gave the car and I can't even remember what other "special features" it had. From that day forward Tim was convinced that Dave was the funniest guy he ever knew, and he was right. Later on, anytime Tim ran into Dave at some place in the neighborhood, he would stop and talk with him and Dave always took the time to chat with him and crack him up with some joke. My wife and I would also run into him, once every couple blue moons, at Home depot or CVS or someplace we would bust each other's chops like we just saw him the day before. He was one of those guys you couldn't forget.

Dave was a special person here at RIH. Everyone knew him and loved him. He was quick to lend a hand anytime you needed him. Didn't matter if it was work or personal. My husband knew him better. I knew Dave because he took the time to come to my kids fundraisers. He said "I know how hard it is to get people to come, so here I am". Just like that. Dave was there. I had the pleasure of seeing him in the corroders and making silly faces at him. He usually forgot who I was until the very last minute then he said oh yeah... I know you. :) He always made me laugh. My husband who knew him much better would tell me so many funny stories about Dave. I felt like I really knew him for year! I wont lie Dave was so loved my husband and I cried when we heard. A beautiful man, with a beautiful soul left this earth way too soon. There will never be another Dave!! You were loved by many, and I am sure your name and legacy will live on for a long long time.
My condolences to the family. May God bless you with peace during this tough time. I am truly sorry for your loss! God Bless

Most of my memories of Dave are when we were at family celebrations. Not only did he take care of Sharon when she was injured (twice), he showed his love and humor to all. I always knew that when Dave arrived, there would be more laughter. His memory will keep a place for him when we all get to gather again and there will be laughter as we talk about how we remember him and all of his jokes and stories. Dave, you were truly unique and you will be missed lots!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I knew him for many years working at Newport Hospital then at RI Hospital.
