Monsieur Bergeron was one of the best teachers I ever had! He loved to tell stories of his family; clearly he was very proud of them! He was passionate about foreign language and made learning fun. I looked forward to his class every day for three years, and although I continued in foreign language for another five years, I never had another teacher that inspired me as much as he did!
To his family, please know that his voice lives on in many people's hearts and warm memories, and that even 25 years later, I still quote Mr B's entusiastic admonition to deposit our checwing gum "dans la corbeille!"
God Bless you all, you were lucky to have him in your lives.

I remember Mr. Bergeron so fondly from my Park View days! He was such a wonderful, warm, fun, witty teacher who never seemed to have a cross moment. I left Park View about 24 years ago and he still stands out as one of the best teachers I had. He must have been a truly great father, grandfather, and great grandfather. I'm sorry for your loss. Please take comfort in knowing how many of his former students will always remember him.

Mr. Bergeron was my French teacher during the '64-'65 and '65-'66 school years. He was truly the consummate teacher: he not only inspired us to learn and to love French, but he encouraged us to become kind and caring adults. Based upon the love of languages that Mr. Bergeron instilled in me, I became a teacher certified in French/Spanish/Italian. During my 26-year teaching career, I always tried to emulate Mr. Bergeron's teaching technique and tried to make learning a language fun and exciting. Mr. Bergeron was responsible for my career path; I can only hope that I was half the teacher that he was. He was a teacher that no student could ever forget.

I have known a few "great" men. Norman was truly one of them. To me, great men have unflinching integrity. They demonstrate compassion, tolerance, and understanding in dealing with others. They are practical, stable and reliable even under the most stressful circumstances. Norman was all of these things and more. Hundreds of colleagues knew him as a trusted mentor and a valued friend. He was a father figure to thousands of students in his many years at Park View. Students learned more than another language from Norm; they learned, by his example, that values and responsibility to others are even more important than academic success. Always, we knew that his devotion to his family came first but community service and commitment to teachers and the teaching profession was also important to him. Yes, Norman was a "great" man. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. His influence will live forever. Joyce and I extend our condolences to Therese and his family and will keep him in our prayers.

“Silence!! Mes eleves!!”

So began every class in French from 1975---1978 at Park View Junior High School. These are the words that come back to me, barked out by Monsieur Bergeron during those years with a twinkle in his eye, words that now I use with my own children.
