Maggie & Desiree, I am so sorry that I could not make the trip up for the service today. I had been wanting to see your mother and her girls. Carmen was always upbeat during the time that I spent near her, and I never forgot. It is hard to believe so many years have passed by, but I feel like it was just yesterday. I loved being around your mother! She always had humor in the serious situations, and I loved that about her. When she asked how I was doing, how anyone was doing, she listened, always keeping eye contact, making us feel like she really wanted to know. And I always gave her an honest answer, and she always gave me sincere conversation. I am sorry that so many of you are going to carry on without her, and happy for you all that you had her. She will remain with you until you are reunited. Carmen was one of my favorite people on earth. I loved her, too. I was lucky to experience life with Carmen around. Until we meet again, thank you, Carmen, for just being you. XO
