To Bernard's Family,
We were so sad to hear of the passing of Bernard, whom we had the pleasure of meeting & getting to know at his home with his ex-wife & friend Serena Avant. Our daughter & grandson, moved near them & being new to the area, they took them under their wings and treated them like family members. At their many cookouts & gatherings, Bernard was always with a great smile, soft spoken voice & so very pleasant & kind. We vividly remember watching him playing outside with all the children, including our grandson alongside Serena, her children & grandchildren, what great times all of us had. We will always be so grateful to he & Serena for all of their kindness to our daughter & grandson. Our world is a much sadder place with Bernard's passing and know he will be missed by so many, as he truly was a nice man. Our sincere thoughts & prayers go out to all of you. May our dear friend Bernard Rest In Peace.

My heart goes out to Junior’s entire family and friends, as this is a very sad time. I first met Junior as a student in my art class at Martin Junior High School, where he was an immediate stand out. His personality and smile lit up a room, instantly becoming someone I would never forget. He was always willing to help out whether in the art room, on the yearbook staff, or anything else where he could be of service. When I was dating my husband we often visited him during his time working at Gregg’s in EP. The last time I saw hime was a few years ago at our BayView Open House, and Mrs. Harris and I were so elated to see him, and that famous smile! We all exchanged hugs and phone numbers, so we could keep in touch going forward.
To the rest of the Smith and White families, I enjoyed teaching all of you, and miss all of you. You gave us such great memories. Junior, your personality, kindness, thoughtfulness, and especially your famous heartwarming smile will live on and be remembered forever. You made your mark, and a difference in this world, for the better.
You will missed by so many, and remembered by all who had the pleasure to have known you.
Sending Love and Prayers,
Rest in Peace

Bernie and I first met as musicians for the Faith and Deliverance worship team. Musicians reach each other with the magic music of course, but Bernie had a resolve beyond his talents. I would answer his resounding drumming with melodies that also possessed the integrity of his character. When we looked at each other Bernard's smile graced me the quality of the man he still is. We connected ! Play on brother...until we see each other and again share the integrity which only you possess. Rest in Peace.
