Jason, Aubrey, and I want to express our heartfelt condolences to Aunt Roberta, Alyssa, Brian, and our extended family. I will always cherish his well-deserved, constructive critiques of my off-key and under-practiced musical attempts as a young adult. His holiday ‘pie’ visits with Dot were a tradition that will be missed. Sending love to you all during this difficult time.

Al was a friend to all who participated in the local music scene! I remember him joining my mother and me for dinner and being so honored when he first invited me to perform at a Cavalcade many years ago! He was a tireless advocate for all of us local performers! I join the many who will miss him!

Heartfelt condolences to the family. Al was a titan in both the RI music and labor community. A true master of lifting notes off of a page, Al made all those around him a better musician and a better person. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

I had the privilege of having Mr. DeAndrade as a teacher for both third and sixth grade in the 60's at Hunt St School in Central Falls. He was a great teacher.

He ran a tight classroom but made learning fun. Occasionally, over the years, I would see him when he was playing in his band. He always remembered my family and was very kind to my mom who he would see when he performed for the senior citizens. Al was a Central Falls icon in so many ways and made a difference in the lives of many CF kids. My condolences to his family.

Al will be remembered through the "Dukes of Dixie". He gave me a chance to sing with his group and taught me the rules of the bandstand. I will forever be grateful for it. His loyalty, strictness, and love of his fellow man will remain with me always.

The young man who was an outstanding member of the RIC class of ‘59, became a Rhode Island icon in his teaching, music, civic responsibility and family life. It was a privilege to know both Al and Roberta and my sympathy goes out to his friends and family. Our military family left RI many years ago but those friendships from our RIC years were always dear to me.

It is with deep regret that I learned of my dear Union Brother's passing. The annual support of the PFoM by my RI AFT Retiree chapter is a tribute to Al's unwavering commitment to union activism and support for members. It was an honor to know him and to share time with him. To Roberta, Alyssa, and Brian, please accept my sincerest condolences.

Al was not only a gifted trumpet player; he was also a natural born leader. It was a great pleasure to have performed with him throughout the years.

To the DeAndrades (my extended family) with loving condolences. We have lost our patriarch, our "head of the table." Al welcomed me into the family with open arms and kept them that way. Always a gentleman and a guy who wore his emotions on his sleeve especially when it came to his family. Rest in peace, Al, and thank you for always making me feel special.
